Hi All:

There are many in St Lucie and Indian River County that do not realize that a project is in the plans for a series of nine story condominiums in a development in St. Lucie County just south of the Indian River County line.  It has passed the 1st public hearing (by a past Board) 4/1 with Doug Coward the only commissioner that voted against it. The development will include 950 housing units on 277 acres and will consist of 110 single-family homes, 200 townhouses and 640 condominiums in a series of high-rise buildings

The developer is planning an entrance off of Route #1 in the vicinity of the Feeder Rd. intersection and then bridging over the railroad to the development. It is called Coconut Cove and will be on the west shore of the Indian River Lagoon.

This development is certainly out of character for St. Lucie County and I’m certain will not enhance the beauty of the Indian River Lagoon.

The developer has agreed to save 75 acres of mangrove preserve and a 45-acre Oak Hammock.  Couldn't build on them anyway.

The project has not as yet received final approval from the St. Lucie County Commission, which will come up before a new Board, who hopefully will realize that this project is not in the best interests of  our County.

When this comes up on the agenda for final approval I will notify you so you will have the opportunity to advise the Board of County Commissioners of your feelings on this project.  Can our feelings and voicing our opinions have any chance of stopping this monstrosity?  It’s the only thing that can!

Cheers, Bob Bangert
