HOA m= eeting 10/29/2008

The meeting was called to order at 7:05PM by Presid= ent Tom Schneider with the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence.

Deputy Len Hoffman from the St. Lucie Co. sheriff&#= 8217;s office Fire Prevention unit spoke to us about the job of that unit.

He also stated that the state of our economy has le= ad to an increase in burglaries. He stressed that we should call 911 if we observe anything unusual in our neighborhoods. Calling 911 wi= ll send a message to the “bad guys”. Stolen bicycles should be reported= since they provide a mode of transportation for the thieves. Report all suspicious activities.<= o:p>

The minutes from the last meeting of September 24, = 2008 were read by secretary, Genny Smith, and they w= ere accepted as read.

The treasure’s report was read by treasurer, = Gay Fazio, and was accepted as read.

Membership - Tom Schneider introduced Darlene Coulling as our new membership chairman. There are 564 paid members. She stated that the new membership= cards will be available on December 1st. Darlene will be in the card room on the 1st Monday of the month from 10:15am to 11:15am for those wishing to join or to renew their memberships.=

Both Activities Linda Murphy and Communications Tony Wells were absent from the meeting.

Vice-President – John Re= iff reports on complaints & suggestions;

1.   = ;      Craig states that the tree trimming program will start in December and continue on into the spring.

2.   = ;      One member suggested that the pool heating equipment be tested before the start= -up date of November 15th. Craig reports that the testing has already begun and they have already found one heater broken. They are looki= ng into something new. Reports w= ill follow.

3.   = ;      Road repairs. Craig told John that extensive road repair and blacktopping has been started today. This will continue until all roads= are repaired. John also informed = Craig that the dirt and sand on the roadways are still awaiting the street sweeper. Craig is trying to g= et upper management to rent this needed equipment. Craig was informed by John that our residents will not be happy about receiving clean up notices for our drivew= ays until the streets are cleaned up.

4.   = ;      Craig has promised to have the “STOP” stencil ready by next week. This will be followed up on.<= /o:p>

5.   = ;      John reports that recycling is on the way. All residents will be receiving bins to separate the glass and plastics. This will be started ASAP.

President Tom Schneider reports that lawn fertilizer spraying has been started.

Committee Reports:

Neighbor Helping Neighbor: Betty Yon spoke about a planned seminar with Treasure Coast Hospice. This will be held on January 19, 2= 009 at 1PM. There will be posters posted.

Arlene Waggert reported= on services available to Spa= nish Lakes Country Club Village residents. She states that Ma= ry Madden is in charge of the Circle of Friends. Circle of Friends can provide transportation to those in need of it to supermarkets and doctor’s appointments. The cost to the drivers has been steadily increasing. These drivers volunteer their time but they do feel that a reimburse= ment for their increasing expenses is in order.

Other suggestions:

Spanish Lakes van will pick up, up to 14 people, on Monday mornings at 8AM and transport them for shopping on US 1 and Oslo Rd. You must call before Monday for a = pick up. The cost is $1 for the ro= und trip. <= /p>
St. Lucie County bus will pick us up at our homes a= t 7am for transportation to Fort Pie= rce Wal-mart on Tuesdays and P= ublix on Wednesdays. You must call = for a pick up. It costs $1 for the = round trip.

The St. Lucie County bus is also available for tran= sport to doctor’s appointments. Details can be found on the back table after the meeting.=

There are other resources found in the handout that= can help with maintaining our independence.&nb= sp; Please take a copy and give one to those that you think may benefit = from it.

Tom Schneider thanked the committee for putting tog= ether the Meet the Candidates gathering last night.

There are no club reports.

Tom announced the opening of the canteen on Friday.= It will be opened Tuesday to Friday. Volunteers are needed= . It will be opened on Monday only if volunteers can be found.

There is no old business

New Business – Carol Fen= sterer spoke about the newsletter.

A resident questioned the raise in the cable service bill. Frank Buzzelli said that it is so much cheaper to pay it all at once than monthly. It is Comcast that raises the rate= s not Wynn. <= /p>

A resident suggested that we have a large central collection for recyclables. J= ohn Reiff said that he believes that it will be mandated = that they pick up at our residences weekly.

Mario Noverini question= s the need for signs at our enternce way.

Tom Schneider recognized Bud Hanley for his work do= ne in the park and Bill and Doris Brown for their contribution to our community.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>

Alice Lasher praised Tom Schneider and John Reiff for the work they did in getting our entranceway cleaned up.

There being no further business the meeting was adj= ourned at 7:50PM.
